Welcome everyone to the Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani Museum on the occasion of International Museum Day 2026, celebrated this year under the theme “Museums Uniting a Divided World.”

At our museum, we believe that museums are not simply places that preserve the past, but living spaces that bring people together, encourage dialogue, and strengthen understanding between cultures and communities. Through heritage and history, we can learn more about one another and discover the shared human values that connect us all.

Since the establishment of the Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani Museum, the vision has been for this place to become more than exhibition halls. It has been created as a space that preserves human memory and tells the stories of civilizations across time. Today, the museum houses thousands of objects reflecting the richness of Qatari, Arab, Islamic, and international heritage, including manuscripts, classic cars, carpets, coins, traditional artefacts, and historical collections that document the lives and cultures of different peoples.

We are also proud that the museum has become an important cultural and educational destination for families, students, researchers, and visitors from around the world. We continuously aim to offer an experience that combines learning with inspiration, while encouraging curiosity, cultural understanding, and respect for diversity. We believe that preserving heritage is not only the responsibility of one institution, but a shared responsibility toward future generations.

On this special occasion, I warmly invite families, residents, and visitors to celebrate with us and discover the important role museums play in building bridges of understanding, dialogue, and human connection. We also welcome everyone to explore the museum and enjoy the unique cultural experiences it offers, reflecting the richness of heritage in Qatar and across the world.

Thank you, and best wishes to you all.

On World Heritage Day, we reflect on the enduring value of heritage as a living legacy, one that connects our past to our present and guides our future.

This year’s theme, “Heritage under Threat from Disasters and Conflicts,” reminds us that heritage is not only to be celebrated, but also protected with responsibility, knowledge, and preparedness.
At the Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani Museum, we are committed to preserving and sharing this legacy. Our collections are not merely objects; they are stories of civilizations, creativity, and human experience, brought together to inspire learning and dialogue.

We believe that heritage belongs to everyone. It is a shared responsibility, to safeguard it, to understand it, and to ensure it continues to enrich generations to come.
On this important day, I invite you to engage with heritage, protect it, and celebrate its value in shaping our collective future.
