Education & Public Programs

FBQ Educational Programs represent a valuable resource for families, schools, universities, and visitors choosing Qatar as a tourist destination.

  • School Programs:
FBQ School Programs provide Museum tours and workshops, both in-person and virtual, designed for primary and secondary school groups. Inspired by FBQ collections, our programs introduce tools to foster visual literacy in students and to promote critical thinking about the world around us.

FBQ's leading program Behind an Object, There is a Story is tailored for kids from 7 to 12 and young participants from 13 to17 keen to venture on a journey of discovery of local culture and Qatari heritage and Islamic art.

  • FBQ.Uni:
The program is designed for students from 18 till 24 years old.

By exploring ideas underpinning the artifacts on display, the one-and-a-half-hour journey will encourage university students to:
    • Develop analytical skills and critical thinking
    • Question ideas throughout human history
    • Compare philosophies to formulate their own opinions
FBQ.Uni offers eight themes and one fixed introduction. During the activity, participants will select four themes to match their university curricula and interests.

From ‘The Art of War’, ‘Key moments in Islamic art’ and up to ‘Qatar: from Tribes to Nation’, participants will learn the critical aspects that have shaped Arab societies in a broader, more global context.

  • Workshops, Lectures and Talks, Concerts:
FBQ Museums offer a wide range of public programs for all ages. Workshops, lectures, artist talk series, and concerts will engage you with selected themes related to our collections. We collaborate with partner institutions and affiliations, regionally and abroad, to offer a diversified and creative educational experience of arts.

  • Tours & Visits:
Led by the Education Department, guided tours are also a great way to learn more about the cultural and social contexts of the objects on display, bringing their stories to life.

Guided tours in Arabic and English are available upon request with at least 48 hours prior to the scheduled visit. In an hour-long guided tour, you will get to explore FBQ collections through 20 Museum Highlights on display.

  • The Family Map - a self-guided tour for parents and kids for playful and engaging itineraries together.

Adam, the Camel, takes young visitors under the guidance of their adult companions on a discovery journey through all museum halls.

To round up the visit, families can select up to five of their favorite objects to create their own museum. By sending us photos of the objects, along with a short description behind the selection, participants will be featured within a virtual family museum every week!  The Family Map is free and available at the reception desk.
